Hotly tipped South African chart toppers The Parlotones are set to break onto the UK scene with their new indie rock single Beautiful. We spoke to front man Kahn Morbee.

How did you get started?

The usual story: four bored guys who liked the same music and thought, “Hey let’s start a band!”

How would you describe your style?

Indie-Rock with a slash of pop

What was the best gig you have ever played?

Live|Earth but our recent Summer Tour was also great.

What was the best gig you have seen as a gig-goer?

Razorlight in a small club in South Africa.

Current favourite Bands?

Bright Eyes, Wilco, Killers

Tell us something people might not know about you.

My name is Dingaan, after a Zulu warrior and I was born in Belgium.

What is all your all time favourite act?

The Beatles

Are there any acts you love to hate?

Babyshambles

What was your first job?

A watch salesman in a mall

When did you last throw up?

No idea but it was alcohol related.

Whats your pre-gig drink of choice?

Double brandy and coke

Gentlemen never tell!!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Where was your most enjoyable holiday?

Anywhere on the SA Coast with friends and band members.

Who did you last share your bed with?

My girlfriend although I did spend most of the flight here with my head on [guitarist] Paul’s shoulder!!
