James Hagan takes to the dancefloor to experience the legendary Fridge
in Brixton (Saturday 29th May).
After a few pre drinks in Brixton, we arrived at the Fridge around 11ish to
be greeted at the main doors without a queue. After a quick pat down by security
we were in. As it was my first time at the venue we had a little scout around.
The main room was a decent size and it had a good raised platform at the back
as well. The venue was about half full at this stage of the night.
The first DJ I remember was Kevin Energy who played a good set of freeform
which the growing crowd was lapping up. Next on was CLSM who absolutely rocked
the main room. After this my memory starts to faulter, but in the second room
Ramos was dropping some classic 95-97 style Hardcore, which was wicked.
The heat in the second room was a bit fierce after a while so we went back
into the main room where Brisk was entertaining the crowd. It was getting near
the end of the night when Sharkey stepped up, delivering a blistering set of
Freeform which the crowd were loving. Before we knew it, it was 5.30am and time
to go home.
Overall, Future Dance was one of the best raves I have been to since 1997.
The production was excellent, especially the lighting. There were two beefy
lasers along with some wicked indoor fireworks, just to add to the excitement.
The atmosphere was second to none without a hint of attitude. Security were
firm but fair and I didn't see them giving any aggro. While it was not packed
there was a good number of people in there being about 3/4 full most of the
night. I am sure had Hard House Academy not been on at Brixton Academy, Future
Dance would have been rammed.
Can't wait for the next one. B-ring it on!!!
