‘Listen Love’ is the A side to the electronic, noisy ‘Toast,’ both of which were released through Bloodlust Records in October. Davina Richards is not impressed.
Shuffle are an unconventional band who are hard to categorize. They have played in a range of festivals including Glastonbury, Secret Garden and Electric Picnic. Pop, hip hop, rock and roll and jazz have been discordantly thrown together to create a noise that is ugly in every aspect.
While a variety of clashing sounds compete for the listener’s attention, an undercurrent of bouncy beats and irritating lyrics result in a track that has less appeal than a romantic evening in with Rik Waller. This jangled musical mess sounds like the misguided creation of an angst-ridden teen with a hangover - indeed the same feeling of nausea is experienced when listening to this bizarre and tuneless track as from a night out on the tiles. If I were you I’d choose the night out over this unfortunate musical nightmare.
