Sander Van Hoorn: Tidy Weekender

We caught up with Sander Van Hoorn in the run-up to the crazy Star Wars-inspired Tidy Weekender.

You’ve played some pretty amazing gigs this year, how are you looking forward to playing to a massive holiday centre packed with nutters dressed as Star Wars characters?

I’ve heard a lot about the tidy weekender, and about how mad it is. It’s going to be different that’s for sure, and of course I am looking forward to it. Not too sure I’ll be dressing up myself though!

How do UK crowds compare with others?

I’ve always said the UK crowds are hard to beat...anywhere! They’re always so up for it, and it makes a big difference to me to be seeing that when I’m playing.

Carl Cox recently tipped us that you were the hottest new DJ/producer around for him right now.

It’s great to have someone like Carl say such good things about me and my music, I grew up admiring people like Carl Cox. As for where I am, well it’s all going good. I think so long as I keep producing music people like, then I should be fine. As for what’s next – I’d like to take my music in an ice cream van and tour the country – do you think that would work?

How is the artist LP coming along?

It’s going really well! We were trying to get it all finished for this year, but there’s no rush. I’ve more or less finished it but keep tweaking things, removing things, and adding new things. I’ll get it done soon enough.

Where would your dream gig be and who would be on the line-up?

To be honest, I’ve done so many amazing gigs this year, it’s really hard to answer this question. Maybe my own huge event somewhere in the future, somewhere crazy and obscure. As for the line-up – anyone who wants to play good music! How diplomatic is that!
