Radio host, DJ, and actor Reggie Yates checks in with Chloe Addo to give the lowdown on his recent antics, summer festival plans, recycling cans and getting beating up by Ferne Cotton!

Many festivals are going green this year and we’re aware you’re supporting the move for gig goers to do the same. So what’s your main tip for green conscious gig goers?

It would have to be recycling drinks cans, the importance of it is forgotten a heck of a lot. We consume 8 billion soft drinks and beers a year, that’s like 21 million a day and the energy that can be generated from recycling one can is enough to power a T.V or light bulb for around 2 hours. So I think there can be done by recycling drinks can.

What festivals are you going to this summer?

Actually I work so much during the summer months I miss lot of summer festivals, but I think I’m filming at T in the Park and I was at Download last week which was a lot of fun.

Which bands/artists are you currently listening to?

There’s an artist out in New York called Mickey Fax who I love and a girl called Rox who I went to see last night. She’s definitely going to make a lot of noise this year when she signs a deal. Remember I told you first!

I think any real music fan shouldn’t be in to one type of music. I like a lot of different music and I play what I like.

You’re co-host on Radio One is the lovely Ferne Cotton but does she ever get on your nerves?

No that’s my big sister. I’ve known her since I was 11 or 12; we’ve been friends for a very long time. The only thing she does do, like any big sister, is wind me up for fun and vice versa- I know how to push her buttons.

In a fight between the two of you who do you think would win?

She’d batter me; she’s a proper Wembley bruiser. Don’t get it confused with all that pretty blondness.

What’s it like working at Radio 1?

Amazing. I pinch myself stepping up to work. It’s like when I started doing Top of the Pops at 18 and I was like how the hell did this happen, - same with Doctor Who. These are things I’ve been in to when I was a kid so it’s huge.

Can we expect to see some more acting from you in the near future?

Yep I started out as an actor before I became a presenter on the radio. Acting is something I love and I will continue doing it- watch out for a drama called Trinity on ITV soon!

Who has been your favourite act to interview?

Jamie Foxx for 1xtra a few years ago, we spoke for 2 and half hours and had the best time ever. This was before the film Ray and not a lot of people knew about him. But to go in and talk about his stand up DVDs, new album all these things other interviewers didn’t really know about he really appreciate.

Have you ever had a really awkward interview with a celeb?

No, not at all. I interviewed N.E.R.D the other day and they were a bit quiet but apart from that it’s all been good really.

Where the rumours true that you and Kelly Rowland were an item?

No, she’s genuinely a mate of mine. We get on well and we’ve got a lot of mutual friends randomly. It’s funny, in a paper the other day it said I was dating Ferne Cotton and cheating on her. One of my favourite press stories that has been written!

Did you like the rumour?

No, not really I don’t like any rumours good or bad. I just want to get up, go to work and watch football with my mates.

What do you prefer Facebook or Myspace?

They’re brilliant for different things. I do a lot of work for Myspace, I do interviews for them etc but I use Facebook for my friends. It’s a lot more personal. I ignore everybody I don’t know.

When you’re not on the DJ decks what do you get up to?

I do all sorts of things, I don’t get much time to myself I run an events company, I have a website, I DJ and I work a heck of a lot.

Do you have any phobias?

Going to jail is a big phobia of mine, that’s something I don’t want to do. I’m not scared of spiders or scared of heights. So I’m lucky.

On a boat with 15 kids, a huge belly and a recycling bin.
