Summer is nearly here, the sun is shining, and there is a whiff of
barbecue in the air: cue, it must be time for reggae.
And if you’re indulging in some grilling sometime soon, what better to
listen to than the delightful sounds of Prince Fatty, a group put together by
producer and engineer Mike Pelanconi, whose recent credits include Lilly Allen's
smash ‘Alright Still’ for Regal/EMI. The Prince Fatty sound is designed
to dub your feet with rock steady beats and stimulate brain waves in a jazz-like
way, all delivered in an up-beat, positive and organic funk fashion.
And the group’s latest single Milk and Honey, offers just that. With
a delicious dubstep and some chunky, funky trumpet and memorable organ, all
mixed up with the melodic, delightful vocals of Hollie Cook, the new vocalist
for The Slits, it seems to us that Prince Fatty has captured the sound of the
summer. Roll on those lazy days; fans of Lilly Allen’s happy-go-lucky-lullabies
take note, Prince Fatty is for you.
