Manchester's finest the Audiowhores featuring Susanna Montero, take soulful house to another level.
One of the success stories of the past three years has without doubt been Manchester DJ & Production outfit, the Audiowhores. Adam Unsworth and Graham Lord crossed paths at legendary club Out In The Sticks and have spent the last couple of years establishing a reputation within the industry as purveyors of the finest soulful house music.
Following the superb "House Music All Night" with Gene Farris remixes on Celebrity Records, their inspired remixes of John 'Julius' Knight's "Find A Friend" and Jazz Transit's "Steppin' Out", and their "Pragmatic Soul EP" on the Pound Boys label Look At You, 2003 saw the Audiowhores debut release for Soulfuric Deep.
"After The Party" - a DJ Mag Hype Chart #1 - featured the vocals of Blu and proved one of the biggest dance-floor hits of the year. 2004 rolled in and the Audiowhores followed up with the acclaimed eclectic and afro influenced "Nekoosa". The Audiowhores highly praised remix of 2 Indigo "Sing it, Shout it", for Mousse T's influential Peppermint Jam label, led to their latest original production for the German super-label.
Featuring Raashan Houston on vocals, "Work It Out" is a brilliant full-vocal monster. Their 3rd release for the Soulfuric family shows the Audiowhores mature sound. "Orillas Del Mar" is without doubt the boy's best yet, and with it's Latin inspired percussion, cool keys and sexy vocals, is a the perfect summer soundtrack.
Having established herself as one of the top salsa singers in the UK, Susana Montero has become one of the UK's top Latin House divas- with credits that include productions with Tito Puente, Tania Maria, Isaac Delgado (Cuba), Pichi Valdes (from Orquesta Reve-Cuba), Jesus Alemany (from Cubanismo-Cuba) and timbalero Roberto Pla (Venezeula). Both as a writer and singer, Susana has worked with C&M Productions (Switzerland), Dalmagio (Sweden),Light for Lines (Japan), Mettle Music (UK), Jersey Street (UK), Jimpster (UK) and Fumi (UK). An extremely versatile musician, Susana was asked by Mr Bongo to re-record the Spanish lyrics of 'Para Ti' in Portuguese for their 'Brasil Beats 3' compilation and 12'. The 'Batucada Mix' with Portuguese lyrics took the track to another level. "Malena" is her Manchester based band - assembled to record and produce her material. Malena is famous for its deep Latin grooves, firing percussion and rich vocal harmonies.
Malena's tracks became an instant hit with the summer Ibiza scene and were applauded by DJ Mag "Wave of soul that is caressed by little rays of flute bursts"; Mixer Magazine "Great percussion and a wicked flute line." And iDJ "Lilting Spanish tones and some damn fine keys, this one looks set to soundtrack the summer."
