“Keep Reaching Up: Remixed” is a combination of motown inspired songs and heavy funk.
Although the first song is bright and sparky, it lacks direction and integrity.
‘If this Aint love’ starts well then deteriorates until we are left listening to the singer holding one interminable note.
‘Keep Reaching Up’ is a welcome relief, a decent track with groovy undertones and an uplifting vibe.
In the latter part of the album, more club-orientated tracks dominate as elements of dance and jazz are merged together.
In track Number 8, ‘A perfect Kind of love’ the medley of soul, hip-hop and jazz creates an inharmonious confusion of sounds that do not gel together.
Despite the host of respected producers and DJ’s involved in it’s creation, this is one CD I won’t ‘keep reaching up’ for.
