We asked Joe T Vanelli for his favourite Ibiza memories.

Tell us about your first experience of Ibiza

It was in the 90’s. I felt an incredible, magic energy. I played for Renaissance in Pacha. I was very involved, I was to able to stay tuned and concentrated on my dj set. Maybe thanks to The Elephant Restaurant where I ate before my gig. That restaurant was full of pictures dedicated to this big animal, all made with different colours. Different colours, different cultures for an energy exchange.

Was it very different to your Ibiza visits now?

Now Ibiza is more commercial. Globalization arrived here too. In the 80’s and 90’s the white island was really a promised land, clubbers were discovering a brand new reality, a new way of living dance events. Now all the promoters prefer to think of attendance and money. Pacha Ibiza is different, the Pacha crew thinks more to the quality of the events.

What have you got planned for your set at Pure Pacha?

Good music, beautiful girls…

What is special about playing Pure Pacha?

I’m really proud to work with Pete Tong, an icon, a number one that gave the top impulse to dance music. We all have to thank Pete for Essential Selection, the best window for dance music by radio. To have a party with Pete was one of my goals. A big opportunity.

What else are you up to at the moment?

My brand new album, out after summer.
