God Fires Man are signed to the UK indie label Xtra Mile Recordings and their new single, “The Dark EP” is out now .We caught up with Arty from the band to find out more.

God Fires Man is made up of Joseph Grillo, John Wilkinson, Drew Thomas and Arthur Shepherd aka Arty. There sound has been described as a mixture between punk, hardcore and alternative rock. Read on to find out how they started, their best gig and much more.

How did you get started?

Old band ended and the new one began with a spirit of reinvention.

How would you describe your style?

We avoid labels and embrace the long forgotten art of great hooks, classic song writing, and actual talent. No bullshit.

What was the best ever gig you have played to date?

London, January 2007

What was your best gig or band that you have seen as a gig-goer?

Voivod, soundgarden, faith no more. 1989.

What are currently your favourite band(s)/artists?

Jesu. Electric Wizard. Behemoth.

Who is your all time favourite act?

YES. (You may commence with snide comments and laughter)

Are there any acts you love to hate?

Bands with glow sticks.

Bob Dylan. I want to ask him what happened to "ideals".

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I thought the world was gonna end in 2012? I'm fucked if it doesn't.

Where was your most enjoyable holiday?

I don’t get holidays.
