Groove Armada return with a super new single and soon-to-release new
album.
Fans of Groove Armada may well have been wondering where the duo – Andy
Cato and Tom Findlay - have been of late. But the boys have put away their side
projects (The Lovebox Weekender, TuneTribe.come etc) and are all set to return
in May with a brand new album – Soundboy Rock. It is already mastered
and finished and promises to be a return to form to one of the UK’s best
and most innovative acts.
The album launch is to be preceded by the single Get Down. For anyone familiar
with the Armada - from their debut album Vertigo to the mellow vibe (except
Super Stylin, of course) of the 2001 album Goodbye Country, (Hello Nightclub),
Get Down is a significant departure.
A mix-up of classic breaks and Caribbean-style dance hall vocals, featuring
Stush, with some infectiously bouncy beats and riffs, all produced in Groove
Armada’s indomitable style, this single is reminiscent of many a Basement
Jaxx’s track.
Already doing the rounds on radio and one of Pete Tong's Essential Selections,
Get Down is undoubtedly going to become one of the hot tracks of the summer.
If the extracts for the new album are anything to go by though, the album as
a whole will be the usual mixture of uplifting anthems (remember Super Stylin!)
and mellow, chilled out tracks. Enjoy! Single released on 30th April.
