‘R.U.E.D.Y’ is the latest album by Flowriders, the band of producer, beat maker and keys player, Vincent Helbers.

The fact that he has spent his career writing, performing and recording contemporary acoustic jazz is clearly evident when listening to this album, which is an eclectic mix of fat grooves soulful jazz and hip hop beats.

Originality exudes from this band, refreshing in the fact that they are more than just a broken beat production unit, instead they perform fully live, blending broken beats, roots, soul and funk. This is the first joint release between Mr. Bongo and unique uncut records, the soul music collective and label set up by Mr. Bongo’s own Graham Luckhurst along with Straight No Chaser’s Amar Patel.

Although sometimes the confusion of rhythms and objectives jars slightly, such as on track two, overall the nu-fusion medley of soulful vocals and contemporary funk is sublimely knitted together on this groove-filled jazz collective.
