Festival Survival Tips

Make like a boy scout with our super sorted, thought-of-everything festival checklist, so you’ll never end up locked out of your car without any loo roll.

Don’t leave these must-haves behind…

• A hat and sun protection. Drinking and extreme sunburn don’t go down well, and there’s nothing that can ruin a good festival like painful blistering skin.

• Your sleeping bag and all the tent pegs.

• Waterproofs with lots of pockets. They don’t get pelted by the crowd like umbrellas and you can keep your drinks / snacks / didgeridoo in them too. Wellingtons are another necessity, stylish and sorted.

• Bog roll. Lots of it.

• A stash of plastic bags to waterproof your stuff and sit on.

• Bottled water, painkillers, toothpaste and a torch. Make sure none of your essentials are in glass to prevent them being confiscated.

If you want to be seriously sorted…

• A stash of pot noodles, biscuits, chocolate and Coke. How sure are you really that you won’t spend all your cash on the first night?

• Don’t leave absolutely anything visible in your car. Smashed windows are not a good look.

• Keep a stash of drinks with you while you keep your place at the front all day to prevent dehydration. Not sure what you’re going to do when you need a bathroom break though…

• Keep your money in your shoes to prevent losing it or having it stolen.

• Swap your sim card into an old phone it won’t be a disaster to lose.

• Bring a pack of baby wipes. They clean anything.

• Foldable chairs.

• Contact lenses.

• Dry shampoo is a fantastic invention.

• A disposable barbecue.

• Disposable camera.

• We’re not advocating anything, but if you are going to be taking drugs, bring your own.

And if you’re just plain anal…

• Bring along a stash of incense sticks to make the loos smell pretty.

• Practice putting your tent up beforehand so you’re sure you won’t encounter problems on the night. For extra points, time yourself until you’re satisfied with your personal best.

• Wear a torch on your head so you have enough hands to hold all your drinks on the way back to your tent.

• Cover the bottom of your tent with bubble wrap to prevent overboard mud and help insulate the tent!

• Bring a mini bottle of alcohol or antibacterial hand gel to sterilise bugs off public loos.

• Put a flag or banner on your tent so you won’t lose it.
