Seen popping up all over the London scene, this emerging UK artist has a huge amount of potential. With a MySpace as colourful and exciting as her voice, Eliza Doolittle’s career is set to explode in the next few months, writes Alex Chin.
With a track in the critically acclaimed urban movie “Adulthood”, Doolittle’s tracks are recently getting more and more exposure.
It’s a phrase that you may have heard many times, but Eliza has the ability to write a great pop song, whilst staying true to herself. Doolittle’s brand of ‘twisted pop song with edge’ is by no means a new formula but it is endorsed by considerable talent. Indeed, Eliza Doolittle wouldn’t know a ‘pop-formula’ if it stopped her in the street, topless in a pink tutu. A fan of Burt Bacharach as much as she is of UK garage, Eliza is inspired on the one hand by CS Lewis and Sebastian Faulks, and on the other by Tim Rice and Gillbert and Sullivan.

It is my personal opinion that this EP seems a little incomplete and this may not be such a bad thing. The imperfect quality of her songs gives an engaging sense of reality to her music however some may say that some of her tracks have the tendency to sound a little under-produced in places. Despite this, the tracks are a delight to listen to. Duffy should watch her back!
