Bored of all them annoying radio ads, claims of being cool and all
that other nonsense you get on the radio these days and just want to get down
to some good old fashioned music? Then you could do worse than check out Dougie
Fresh the DJ, the man with the mix for your party.
Although hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, in the American Mid-West - a place more
synonymous with rock and roll and metal than funky house, it seems Dougie has
a real love for house, and adores UK DJs – particularly Fatboy Slim, Judge
Jules and the Tongmeister.
He says on his MySpace “I love playing house/hard house/electro house/trance
– mainly anything with a dance beat. You never know what I’m going
to mix in. I don’t tend to play the same tunes every week, I’m a
music junkie.”
With selections including an entire mix devoted to the likes of the Chemical
Brothers, as well as mixing in mash-ups of the likes of Eminem with the latest
house tracks, plus acts as diverse as Axwell, Kid Icarus, Run DMC, Snow Patrol,
Basement Jaxx and Armand Van Helden, the mixes may be too commercial for some,
but they are all fresh (as the name suggests) and very entertaining.
With more than 40 different mixes to choose, the site is well worth checking
out, especially if you are holding a party and want to blast out a few free
mixes and get down and party like it’s, er, the year 2000 or something.
