DJmag claims shes "An artist for the future". We caught up with the electro breaks DJ, Janette Slack to find out how she started, who she hates and discovered who was last in her bed.

How did you get started?

A lot of my friends had decks, so when hanging out at theirs I was always curious how to mix. At after parties at someone’s place the DJs would burn out and I wanted the music to keep going. So they told me to help myself to their records and gave me a 3 min crash course on DJing (I sounded hideous!) and the rest was practice.

I was helping out doing décor at raves which helped get my foot in the door and got my first gigs through that and caning mix tapes.

How would you describe your style?

Cheeky, chunky, twisted and demented.

What was the best ever gig you have played to date?

Desert rave in LA, was blessed with a beautiful sunrise slot. Dead land is pretty stunning in daylight.

What was your best gig or band that you have seen as a gig-goer?

Chemical Brothers 2004 Glastonbury.

What are currently your favourite band(s)/artists?

Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, Trentmoller, Urban Voodoo Machine

Who is your all time favourite act?

Nine Inch Nails

Are there any acts you love to hate?

Boyzone and Westlife, the only muppets I like are the ones created by Jim Henson.

What was your first job?

Raffle ticket seller at the International Cricket Sixes in Hong Kong 1990 or 1991.

When was the last time you threw up? And why?

After eating a custard donut from Camden. DON’T EVER buy them! Mother pluckers! I was throwing up for 6 hours and had to force eat/swallow cereal and bread in order to throw up more as my stomach wouldn’t stop. NICE!

What's your pre-gig drink of choice?

Mango and Banana smoothie.

Do you do the whole groupie love thing?

Haha! I appreciate love in general but it doesn’t go further than a hug!

Which other celebrity would you like to be trapped in a lift with and why?

Derrin Brown, because he seems fun and can keep you entertained by freaking you out with his mind manipulation games. I just hope neither of us are busting for the loo at the time, as that would make the fun less funner.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In a pimped out house with an indoor swimming pool surrounded by loads of bitches. Or nicely settled with 2.4 children preparing for menopause.

Where was your most enjoyable holiday?

Snowboarding in Canada with my bestest friends last year, my thighs and bum felt awesome! We ate, slept and snowboarded, if only that was real life. *sigh*

If you were an animal what would you be?

A cross breed of a squirrel and a monkey in a lab.

Who did you last share your bed with?

My flatmate’s cat Kiki.
